the Year in Review
December 30th, 2005

My top five highlights for 2005, in no particular order:

  • E3. Probably the highlight of the year, our vacation to LA for E3 was geek nirvana. While MeLisa and I were out there, we got to meet a bunch of cool people, play some awesome games and see some of LA's attractions. From Mario Kart to the Final Fantasy concert, Korean BBQ to Frank pissing himself, this trip had it all.

  • New Job(s). After four long years with Under Armour, I moved on to greener pastures. First, it was for more money and a shorter commute... then I changed jobs again, this time taking a position heading up an IT department. When I left Under Armour I wasn't completely sure how smart a move it was, but I am extremely happy with the outcome. I am making more money, have a higher position, and have a renewed passion for my work. Leaving UA was a leap of faith that has paid off wonderfully.

  • New York. After the house stuff went sour, MeLisa and I decided to blow off some steam and go to New York for the day. I am so glad we did, because we really needed the break. And we had a great time in Manhattan... got to see some cool sights, did some shopping and ate great food. What more can you ask for?

  • Heather and Jon's wedding. 2005 was the year of travel, apparently. In addition to our trips to Los Angeles and New York, MeLisa and I traveled to Orlando to see our friends Heather and Jon tie the knot. It was a great little vacation for us, and we were happy to have the chance to see our friends get hitched.

  • New Car. After driving around in the Mustang for 5 years, I needed a change of pace... and my Jetta definitely provided it. This has been an awesome car so far, and I still enjoy driving it very much. Especially during the winter... I never realized how great heated seats were.

Here's to an excellent 2005, and let's hope next year is just as good.
