4 More Years...
November 3rd, 2004

Well... it's official:

I don't understand this country. Are we living in different worlds? Have we been seeing different things?

In the last 4 years, Bush has done absolutely nothing productive for this country. Nothing. I think the New York Times said it best:

"Bush's campaign pitch follows their usual backward logic: Because we have failed to make you safe, you should re-elect us to make you safer. Because we haven't caught Osama in three years, you need us to catch Osama in the next four years. Because we didn't bother to secure explosives in Iraq, you can count on us to make sure those explosives aren't used against you..."

-NY Times, Sunday Oct. 31

Think about it. Since Bush entered office, our economy has gone to shit... our foreign policy has collapsed... our deficit is the biggest it has ever been in history... and we went to war with a country that posed no danger to us. Meanwhile, the man hasn't done a single positive thing for this nation. And yet, here he is, about to serve another term in office. I just don't get it.

So... here you go America: prepare to sleep in the bed you have made. Prepare for our civil liberties to dwindle while the President (and his Republican House and Senate) pander to the large corporations of the world. Prepare for religion to play an even larger role in your life, whether you wish it to or not. Seperation of Church and State will take a backseat as Roe vs. Wade is overturned, and gay americans become second-class citizens. Prepare for the world at large to despise us. Because we, as a nation, just endorsed everything horrible that has happened over the last 4 years. We have endorsed it, and signed up for more.

And to America's new and young voters... what can I say? Apparently your vote doesn't count afterall. You turned out in record numbers for this election, with the vast majority of you supporting Kerry... and the election still went the same way it always does. The states fell into line as if the entire process was scripted.

I don't know what to do now. I am depressed and angry... and sad that our country revealed it's true colors like this. MeLisa and I are talking about moving to Canada. I don't know what will happen, but I know it's not going to be fun.
