Kaylee's busy weekend
Updated: April 7th, 2008 (RSS)
As new parents, it has been hard for MeLisa and I to get out of the house a lot lately. Between feedings, nap times and diaper changes (not to mention taking care of the dog)... it is tough to find the time to do anything.
It sure didn't slow us down this weekend though!
The weather was so nice on Saturday, we decided to take a trip to Glen Echo Park. Glen Echo is an early 1900's era amusement park that was shut down in the 60's. Eventually the government took it over and turned it into a state park. As a kid, my mom took pottery classes there and I loved exploring the abandoned buildings and attractions. I hadn't been back there in a long time though, and I thought it would be a nice place to visit now... and probably make for some good photo opportunities as well. We invited Piergalline along too, since I figured he would appreciate the photo ops as well.
The park has definitely changed quite a bit. Almost everything has gone through a heavy renovation and the result has given the park a nice facelift. There are still some remnants of the Glen Echo I remember, but it has become a much more family-friendly place now (for better or worse). We had a great time looking around and hanging out though.

And of course I took some "artsy-fartsy" shots while we were there too...

On Sunday we went and had lunch with my grandparents. They have been in Hawaii for the last couple of months and this was the first time we had seen them since they had gotten back... and it was also the first time Kaylee got to meet her great grandfather.
We had a great time, and lunch (at Hamburger Hamlet) was awesome. I think it is safe to say that Kaylee had a good time too:

It was a busy weekend, but a good one. We needed an excuse to get out of the house and we had a lot of fun. I hope there are more busy weekends like this in our future.
